Delete your account
Two steps, both quick — no login, no retention tricks, no guilt trip. A human (Luke) processes every request. Questions first? Email hello@trymorningbell.com.
Step 1 — cut off our access right now
You don't need our permission for this part. The access token you pasted at signup is the only access Morning Bell has to your Canvas — revoke it there and we are locked out on the spot, before you've even emailed us:
- Open your school's Canvas settings page — in Canvas that's
Account → Settings, and the address looks like
https://yourschool.instructure.com/profile/settings(the same page where you created the token). - Scroll to Approved Integrations.
- Find the token labeled Morning Bell and delete it (the trash icon).
That instantly kills every read Morning Bell could make. The data already on our side still exists until step 2 — but nothing new can reach us.
Step 2 — one email erases the rest
Send us the pre-filled email below. We hard-delete your encrypted token from the vault, every row of your data, and the account itself — within 7 days of your email, usually the same day. No soft delete, no 30-day "processing period," and no backup ghost copies (our database keeps no automated backups today — see the privacy page for the full retention picture).
The button opens your own email app with the request written for you — just fill in the email address you signed up with, so we delete the right account. If the button doesn't work, email hello@trymorningbell.com with the subject "Delete my account".
What gets deleted
- Your encrypted access token, purged from the secrets vault (already dead if you did step 1).
- Every row of your data: courses, grade history, assignment status, announcement IDs, send log.
- Your account itself, with both email addresses on it.
Briefs we already sent live on in your inbox (yours to keep or delete) and persist for a time in our email provider's (Resend's) delivery logs, under their own retention policy — email, once sent, is like that.
Just want silence, not the void?
The one-tap unsubscribe in any brief stops all sending instantly — your account pauses and nothing more is read or sent until you come back. Deletion is the bigger hammer.
